The US Department of State will only accept checks or money orders for their fees. Follow the guidelines below to avoid any delays and ensure accuracy:

• Must be a check or money order.
• Do NOT use temporary or starter checks. Personal checks must have name and address already pre-printed.
• Check must be made payable to "US Department of State"
• Amount must be written out in full. $190 should be written as "One Hundred Ninety and 00/100."
• Write applicant's full name and date of birth on the memo line of the check or money order.
